Mountaineering

RMG Mountaineering Program:

With Quandary Peak to the south and Grays and Torreys to the east, Summit County has three 14er’s in the Dillon Ranger District. Furthermore, around the Continental Divide, the Gore Range Wilderness and the Ten Mile Range, there are many peaks around 13,000 feet that offer a multitude of mountaineering and climbing adventures. The Kelso Ridge on Torreys and the West Ridge on Quandary are just two examples of fantastic alpine climbs that will test your skills and endurance. We will leave the beaten path and scramble and climb at high altitude where few people go. We suggest that you take our Mountaineering 101 course, which will teach you the necessary skills so you will feel comfortable in exposed and variable terrain.  There should always be room to improve your techniques, refresh your skills and upgrade to the latest standard of climbing, regardless of your level of experience.
